What is the best advice you have received in your career?
My parents instilled in me to never settle for anything less than my personal best. This is the best advice I have ever received and the words by which I strive to live my life.

How have you seen the workplace change for women in your industry?
When I started my career in the mid 1980s, women were required to fit into a man’s world. We wore navy power suits with bow ties, talked sports and were encouraged to hide our emotions. Over the years, I have seen a general shift in the workplace where it is now acceptable for women to exhibit both intelligence and femininity. We now have a voice.

The workdays can feel long…how do you stay motivated?
Prayers—LOTS of them. I start most days with early morning prayers, a workout or a swim at the gym, and strategic talks with my husband. Once at work, it is the energy of my internal or client team that keeps me motivated.

What was your favorite thing about attending Temple?
First and foremost, the Executive MBA program was simply outstanding. And as an alumna, the Small Business Development Center resources, the EMBA and Fox School of Business Alumni network, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute connections have been invaluable. I also love to hire Temple graduates since I know the high quality and integrity of the graduates.

What are your biggest passions?
My biggest passions are entrepreneurship and the performing arts. It was always my lifelong goal to start my own business and to help others with this same passion. I also enjoy performing, singing in the choir and playing the piano.

Does your current job allow you to focus on your passions?
If your job is not directly connected to your passions, how else do you pursue those interests? I live entrepreneurship everyday as a certified woman business owner through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, as well as working with other entrepreneurs, providing them the confidence to grow their businesses. I incorporate the skills learned through the performing arts in the execution of relating to clients and communicating the business.
